I have been asked to make a presentation on the requirements and needs of manufacturers and importers with regard to software in weighing instruments at a conference organised by WELMEC WG7 which relates to software. If you have any views or matters that you would like me to bring up, please do not hesitate to contact me

The most recent draft of this standard has been posted on the UKWF site. It largely reflects the elements of the international standard relating to weighing instruments R76. The most significant change between the existing standard and the new revision is the increase in the in requirement for electromagnetic immunity from 3v per metre to 10v per metre. The implication of this must be considered by all UKWF members and I will publish advice on this matter shortly
If you have any comments on this standard please let me have them as soon as possible
The UKWF have recently published guidance on the requirements that should be followed when re-verifying EPOS systems at supermarkets. If a software update has been done under certain circumstances it may be possible to sample test the instruments when undertaking a re-verification test. This is felt to be helpful as it will allow businesses to streamline their procedures. All members of the UKWF are encouraged to use this if it applies to their business. The document can be found on the UKWF website UKWF Guidance on re-verification of EPOS
